Freddy’s nightmares – full series online

Freddy’s Nightmares is an American horror series, which aired between October 1988 and March 1990. It was a spin-off of the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Each story was introduced by Freddy Krueger (played, as in the films, by Robert Englund). This format is essentially the same as that used in Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Tales from the Crypt, or The Twilight Zone.[1] The format was also the same as that used in Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

New Line Television, the producers of the film series, also produced the series. It was originally distributed by Lorimar Television. However, Warner Bros. Television would take over the syndication rights after the acquisition of Lorimar (New Line is now a subsidiary of Warner Bros.)[1] The series was also syndicated by Lorimar Television.

Since the character of Freddy was a killer, New Line Cinema opted not to have the same group of actors star in the series continuously, since by the format of the franchise they would all inevitably have to die. Instead, the producers opted to create a series of individual, stand-alone episodes, with new actors for each episode.

More than a quarter of a century later, director Michael Bay, one of the mainstays of video action cinema, has begun to wash the face of horror myths for the new generations, replacing the obsolete gimmicks of the austere eighties productions with a visual care inherited from his time in advertising and a severe and violent tone far from any attempt at parody. The result has been a series of remake-sequels -The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2004) or Friday the 13th (2009) – that have brought back our worst childhood fears.

The result is an only effective and average horror film, which eliminates the suggestive potential of the idea and also does not bring the grotesque, morbid and definitely campy imagination of the sequels of that one (highlighting the horny but suggestive Nightmare on Elm Street 3, directed by Chuck Russell). Nevertheless, director Samuel Bayer plays some interesting cards. The change of plot half an hour into the film, substituting one protagonist for another (an idea present in the original and improved here), and some unexpectedly cruel notes from Krueger (as when he reminds one of his victims that he has seven minutes until his brain dies for real) turn the proposal into a valid sequel, which Bayer solves with the skill of someone who receives a commission and knows how to fulfill it. But nothing more.
